It is easier for the world to accept a simple lie than a complex truth. Alexis Tocqueville

I love politics. I studied it in school, and I’ve lived and breathed it ever since. My favorite television shows are usually political, even the liberal ones.

One of those shows is called the West Wing. And when I came across Tocqueville’s quote, I thought about a line from that show. ”Complexity isn’t a vice.”

Three Weeks Left

We have three weeks before Election Day. And we can expect to be drenched in a downpour of oversimplifications and half truths. It’s the nature of the beast.

Steve Stadelman is a good state senator.”

“Maurice West has done a good job.”

I’m not saying they’re bad men. But its silly to think they’ve done a good job given their vote for the Illinois SAFE-T Act, and the timing of their desire to fix it – only AFTER the public outcry.

Good People Need Your Vote

You probably know all about the statewide candidates. There are also good people, hardworking and dedicated, who have put their names on our ballots this year. You may have heard of some of them.

Jon Ojeda – candidate for IL State Rep 68th District

Glen Oland – candidate for IL State Rep 67th District

Steve Schultz – candidate for Winnebago County Treasurer

Michael Thompson – candidate for Winnebago County Board 17th District

Doug Mark – candidate for Winnebago County Board 19th District

John Sweeney – candidate for Winnebago County Board 20th District

These are people of character who trust ”we the people” more than big government. They believe in making our community safer instead of coddling criminals; in cutting property taxes and shrinking bloated budgets. These are people who trust that parents know what’s best for their kids, instead of radical elite “experts.” In short, they’ll fight for us.
