“Reading takes time and the glass test takes too much of it.” Stephen King
Have you ever seen the 1996 dark comedy, “The Cable Guy?” It’s a Jim Carey performance that truly creeps me out!
And it’s not only his performance. Every time I watch that movie I ask myself, “How much TV is too much?” The question rings in my ears for days afterwards. Maybe it has something to do with Carey’s truly creepy lines, “Don’t you understand Steven? Somebody has to kill the babysitter!”
“On Writing”
I haven’t thought of this movie in years. But I’m reading a book by Stephen King – cue the gasps and horrified expressions. Why? The book’s is called, “On Writing.”
I wish I could tell you I spend more time reading than I do watching TV. With the advent of Netflix, Hulu, and Disney +, and the development of smartphones and hi speed internet access, it’s much easier to watch or at least listen to tv programs and movies than ever before.
Browsing Habits
One thing I have noticed over the years is that I don’t spend very much time shopping for TVs. Even when I “need” to buy one, it usually doesn’t take very much time. I just don’t browse for tvs or streaming devices. I browse for books.
That says something, right? I own more than 1000 books and at the rate I currently read, I’ll be lucky to finish them all.
Conclusion
So it’s time to read. And my goal is to finish every book I own before i pass through the pearly gates. What are your life goals?
